About me.

I’m Ben. I am a qualified teacher with over 10 years experience. I am also the author of several books for children under the name B LANE.

I am passionate about helping children to achieve their full potential. As the name suggests, I aim to build confidence first as a priority. That’s what I do and that’s what I believe is the answer. A good teacher makes everybody feel like a somebody.

I specialise in maths and English tuition for KS2, KS3 and KS4 (GCSE).

Why Confidence First?

My philosophy has always been to build confidence, resilience and self-belief. In a world bursting at the seams with challenge and opportunity, confidence is key. It is the foundation upon which everything else is built. I always take the time to build strong relationships with my students and do everything I can to build their confidence, their self-worth, their passion, their belief. Where would they be without those things? When children feel confident, they approach learning with curiosity rather than apprehension. They’re more likely to ask questions, explore new ideas, and embrace challenges. A confident student sees a setback not as a failure but as a steppingstone toward improvement.
